Visiting Big Robot Pattaya: What You'll Find on Sukhumvit Road

Big Robot Pattaya is a metal sculpture yard at 203/5 M.11 Sukhumvit Road, 20150 Pattaya, Nongprue, Chonburi. It displays figures made by hand in Thailand from recycled steel: Transformers, Marvel and film characters, Minions, animals and custom motorcycles. Every sculpture is a one-off original. You are welcome to walk around them before you buy, but call +66 61 658 3265 first so someone is there to let you in, and check that the piece you want to see has not sold.

Key takeaways

  • It is a sales yard. The sculptures standing there are for sale and are crated and shipped worldwide.
  • The line-up covers Transformers, Marvel and film characters, custom motorcycles, Minions and animals, from 45 cm spiders in top hats to a 285 cm King Kong.
  • Pieces in the collection run from about 24 cm to 4 metres. Commissions can be made from 10 cm to 9 metres.
  • Call before you come. There are no published opening hours.

What and where is Big Robot Pattaya?

The yard sits on Thailand's east coast at 203/5 M.11 Sukhumvit Road, 20150 Pattaya, Nongprue, Chonburi. Sukhumvit Road is the main artery linking the coastal towns, so anyone driving between them will pass the entrance.

It is a sales yard rather than a tourist attraction. The sculptures stand there until they are sold, crated and shipped, and someone has to be there to let you in. The business is run by Fred Dodenhoeft, who is named in the imprint.

What you will see in the yard

The online collection shows every piece, including the ones that have already sold, which are marked. In early October 2026 about 80 pieces were available. They fall into a handful of groups.

  • Transformers. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron in sizes from 33 cm miniatures to 280 cm. The 270 cm Bumblebee weighs 630 kg (Transformers).
  • Marvel and film characters. Three Hulks from 165 cm to 400 cm, the tallest riding a motorcycle. Captain America at 167 cm and 210 cm, plus a 240 cm-long sculpture of him seated on a bench. Batman at 237 cm and Captain Davy Jones at 250 cm (fantasy category). Earlier pieces such as the Alien and Predator figures have sold, but any piece in the collection can be commissioned.
  • Custom motorcycles. Metal motorcycles from a 50 cm chopper to a 178 cm Mad Max motorcycle, with a dragon motorcycle and an Indian custom in between.
  • Minions. From 24 cm tabletop pieces up to 175 cm. The big ones are crossovers: an Iron Man, a Spider-Man, a Captain America and an Optimus Prime Minion, each around 170 cm (Minions).
  • Animals. Gorillas, including a 285 cm King Kong, elephants up to 250 cm, two 185 cm giraffes, a horse, a donkey, a spotted cow, a king cobra, dogs made from spark plugs and 45 cm spiders in top hats (animals). The horse, both gorillas, two of the elephants and the king cobra are made from old tyres (rubber).

Scale is the thing photographs never quite capture. The smallest Minions are 24 cm tall and weigh under 3 kg. The tallest piece available, the Hulk on a motorcycle, stands 400 cm and weighs about 404 kg, and the 270 cm Bumblebee weighs 630 kg. Standing next to one of those settles the question. Commissions can go further still: figures can be made from 10 cm to 9 metres tall, weighing from about 1 kg to 8 tonnes.

Why no two sculptures are the same

Every piece is cut, welded and finished by hand in Thailand. Nothing is cast, moulded or produced in a series.

The raw material is recycled steel: scrap plate, motorcycle chains, drive sprockets, car parts and old tyres. Look closely at a torso and you can still read the original parts in the armour.

Because each figure is made by hand from salvaged material, each one is a physical original. When a sculpture sells, it is gone. A buyer who wants something similar can commission one: the subject, the dimensions and the finish can be matched, though it will never be identical. A commission takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on size.

Large figures also have to travel, which is where the engineering comes in. Many large pieces use a plug-in system, so arms, heads, torsos and accessories detach. The 400 cm Hulk, for example, comes apart into arms, head and body. A large sculpture can be taken apart, crated and put back together at its destination.

A sales yard where stock moves

The yard is a place of business. Finished sculptures stand there until they sell, so a piece photographed for the collection last month may be in a shipping crate today.

Every piece leaves in a wooden crate built around it, and something very large, or several pieces at once, goes in its own container (shipping and payment). Pieces already standing in the yard ship as soon as the crate is built. That is why the online collection is the best guide to what you will actually see.

How to arrange a visit

The yard does not publish opening hours. You are welcome to walk around the sculptures before deciding, but someone has to be there to let you in, so call first and agree a time. That is a consequence of how the place runs: it is an export business rather than a tourist attraction with a turnstile.

There are three ways to get in touch:

  • Phone: +66 61 658 3265
  • WhatsApp or LINE, using the chat buttons on the website
  • The enquiry form on any product page

Make the first message do some work. Say which dates you are in Pattaya. Say whether you are browsing or buying for a business. And name the piece you want to see, ideally with its article number (Art. No.), because that is the detail that stops you driving out to view a sculpture that has already been crated.

What buyers should know about price

Each available piece shows its price on its product page. When you ask about one, the quote is a single total: the piece, a wooden crate built around it, and freight to your port or door, so there is nothing to discover later.

That total holds for seven days from the date on the quote, because container rates move week to week. A deposit confirms the order and the balance is due before the crate leaves. Payment is by international bank transfer, and the account details come with the invoice; they are never published on the site (shipping and payment).

If the piece you wanted has already sold, you can commission one like it. You choose the subject, the dimensions and the finish. It will not be identical, because none of them are, and it takes 4 to 8 weeks depending on size. The plug-in joints matter here too: they are what let a 4 m figure travel in a crate and stand up again at the other end. Anything above roughly two metres needs machinery to place, so plan for that before it arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Can I just turn up and look around? Call first on +66 61 658 3265. You are welcome to look around, but there are no published opening hours and someone has to be there to let you in.

Is it suitable for children? Yes, with supervision. The Minions and the animals suit families, but it is a sales yard full of heavy steel figures, not a playground, so keep small children close.

Can I buy a small piece to take home? Yes. Minions and miniatures start at about 24 cm and weigh a few kilos. What is available changes, so check the collection before you go.

Can a sculpture be shipped abroad? Yes, worldwide. Every piece travels in a wooden crate built around it, and the quote is one total: the piece, the crate and freight to your port or door.
